(Time Pass) Thoughts !

Do they make any sense [or not] ?
  1. Don't be irreplaceable. If you cant be replaced, you can't be promoted.
  2. Never argue with a fool. People might not know the difference.
  3. Doing nothing is very hard to do. You never know when you are finished.
  4. Always and never are two words you should always remember never to use.
  5. When I was born i was so surprised I didnt talk for one and a half year.

Oh! SNOW

I have experienced snow before, but then I was not old enough to remember it. So this was my 1st actual snowfall experience & I must say, I was so looking for it until I happen to say ‘Snow is good only to look’. A pleasant white, calm, sheath atmosphere to gaze, however as soon as it says ‘Hello, I am here to stay’, OMG, it becomes excruciating(at least to me), especially when you are stuck at home, eating [only if u are intelligent enough to stock up supplies] and watching movies. I didn't even read.

At last it snowed after a week long weather forcast. And I was disappointed to see just 1-2 cms of snow flakes. Least did I know that I will have a different perspective after few days.

Day 2 of snowfall was 'such a fun', I just cherished it, went out with as many clothes as I could on, had snow fight, slipped all over. It was clean, unadulterated white, spotless, bright 5-6 inches snow. Those who dared to take cars out were skidding all around. Temperature was below -6 C.

Come day 3, it snowed a further 4-5 inches. As it snows only 1-2 inches in this part of the world, everyone expected it to stop and resume there daily chores by next day or two. But this time snow had its own plans and didn’t want to leave early. Last time when it had snowed this heavily here was way back in 1989.

It was almost 1 ½ feet of white deposit in the morning of day 4. And the best part was I had an appointment with doc which I didn’t wanted to postpone, since getting next appointment immediately was not impossible. As doc was about 1.25 miles from home we went walking. Main road were cleaned but all the snow, which by now had turned black, was dumped on the walkway and roads had turned into ice trap. Ha!! I will never forget this walk.

Then there were day 5, 6......... untill finally it stopped, ice started melting and we went out to get some fresh air & to re-stock, just in case snow feels like visiting us again this year :)

This snowy condition lasted for 9 days. I felt like I was under a house arrest. Had never expected that snow can be so depressing. I heard people saying that they will never complain about the rain[since here it rains for 7-8 months] after this snow season. Needless to say everything was paralyzed coz city was not prepared for this much of heavy snowfall.

According to some environmentalist Global Warming has resulted in this extreme climate change. I don’t think I need to say who is responsible & answerable for this.

Better Drivers: M or W?

It’s so annoying when people drive as though they are the only one using the road. Using cell phone from one hand and drinking cappuccino from other. Helloooo, your call and drink can wait.

I, like most people, I believed that men are better drivers than women, until I
read this article which proves, with statistics, that I was wrong. But to be honest, I am still not convinced, as I have seen women drivers committing blunders when behind the wheels.

Searched this topic and got some interesting information:

Drive Safely. Other safety & yours , on road, depends on how you drive.

Be Mr. LATE than LATE Mr.

A Book; Prologue

"The road to knowledge begins with the turn of the page."

Back during school days, I used to read a lot.

Then through 4 years of collage, apart from my curriculum, I had read just 2 ½ books, The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown and Five point someone by Chetan Bhagat. I remember i was admitted at hospital and was reading The Da Vinci Code, when the doctor visited & said "By the time u will finish this book, u will be fine". Wondering what this ½ is about? Well, I started Angels and Demons by Dan Brown, but never had patience to complete it and my sis narrated me the rest of the book :).

Past collage , when I was working, I had no time to read; rather I never made any attempt to buy some time to do so.

But now, since last 5 months, I have got addicted to them. Some of them are good and some of them are bad & by the end of a day, I would have read even the crappiest volume. Believe me this is the best time pass activity you can do.

I was scanning my blog and realized that there is not much of what I have penned down. Then it struck me that I can write about the books I read. I am not a critic or a reviewer. It's just how i feel about the book, no offence please.

Mumbai Blasts [Nov, 26 2008 - Nov, 29 2008]

Nov, 26 2008, 23:00 IST, yet again, the city of Mumbai was attacked. Terrorists targeted the Taj Palace, Oberoi hotel, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminal (CST) railway station, Nariman Point, BMC office, Cama hospital, hard to accept as truth, that even the hospital is not spared, Colaba Causeway, Cafe Leopold leaving about 200 dead and more than 300 injured. These are the numbers which are out, but all of us know that the damage to human lives is much more than this.

ATS Chief Hemat Karkare shot, Encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar killed, Havildar Gajendra Singh dead. What are their families punished for?
And then there is a statement form the Kerela Chief minster on Monday, Dec, 01 2008, to the family of NSG Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan , after the father of the officer refused to meet him “if it had not been (Major) Sandeep's house, not even a dog would have glanced that way." How can anyone make such a statement when a nation has lost one of its brave soldiers saving his and mine life? Ridiculous!

Taj Operation called as Operation Cyclone lasted for 3 days. While families in different parts of world were celebrating thanksgiving, in India families were torn apart. And our adored politicians, Member of Parliament, in charge of safe and security nation, didn’t even realize what was happening around. It’s time for a desperate change. No use cribbing and whining because it’s we who have given them these powers.
The distinction between this attack and the pervious ones is that this time they have targeted the influential elite people. This will be a game changer, as i can say that there is no worth of the common man’s life in India. Couple of days later, as seen after every attack, everone will forget the entire thing and until this outlook is changed people will go on dying and families will keep on suffering.

Let me not forget to point out the media. All they call for is is the TRP rating. How can they show the positions of the snipers when they knew that the cell phones were still working in the hotels? What I saw in one of the news channel was awful. Instead of helping a victim who was hit by a bullet, they were focusing his bleeding hand. Grow up guys, you are supposed to be cooperative in such situations and not create the mess.

The next thing in the row is the Blame Game, political parties blaming each other. Common guys, stop making it a political issue. Be united at least in such circumstances. Let’s not keep on blaming our neighbors & other political parties for this massacre. What are we doing about all this? D network key members holds influence in the docks of Mumbai, continue to function with impunity, even after the November 26 terror attacks, his smuggling racket remains unrestricted. Despite strong indications that it provided backing to the attackers, the police claim there was no local support.

My heartfelt condolences to the families of victims. Sincere THANKS to NSG and MACROS and all those who lost there lives saving ours.
And Mr. PM MMS please wakeup................ You have a country to look after.
