Last 2 months just flew by and I didn’t even realize. Changes surrounded me from all possible sides, though all were pleasing.
Few days back, my little friend, whom I used to meet almost every day and now hardly any, came to me, kissed hugged and said “Missed you”. This was the last thing I had expected from her.
I just don’t know how what else to write or how to end this post, all I know is that I am gonna remember that moment for the rest of my life.

Email Clutter

At times I get some really nice emails which go straight to a good ones folder. Occasionally I used to post them here under the labels email, fun..
I was cleaning my inbox and came across many such good mails. Didn’t want to muddle my My Thoughts with just the copied mails so here I come up with a new blog Email Clutter, just for some fun and thoughts and yes forwarded emails.

Idli “Disaster and Recovery”

This was the 1st time I was making idly batter at home ‘from scratch’ to be specific.
I was so happy after grinding the rice and dal as the mixture turned as smooth as a cream. Since the entire recipe was from internet, as usual, there was the tip that we need to keep the batter in the warm place to enhance the fermentation process.

So when you live in a place where the average temp is below 10 deg C, you at once think of the oven as the safe warm place. So did I. Since my oven was not warm, I switched it on for 4 mins at 350 deg and then after some time, I place my batter in the oven with the lid tightly sealed.

Next morning, as soon as I woke up, I rushed to the kitchen hoping to see the batter double in quantity. Least did I know that I will find idly instead.
Yes, you guessed it right; I assume oven was way too hot for batter to get fermented and instead it took the privilege of turning itself into the idly, hoping to make my work easy. And yes, my huge idli was yumm.

water 2 tweet

All of us must have seen small bowls of water lying outside some homes and knew it was for birds, only if they didn’t have a dog, a pet to be precise, guarding this life saver fluid from dehydrated birds ;)

Honestly, I never realized, (ok I am not a duffer, So) maybe I never thought it this way, that during summer, when the sun shines ruthlessly, even birds need extra water to beat the heat and cool their teeny-weeny bodies, until I saw this:

So this summer, only if n when we have it here, I am gonna have a bowl filled with this precious liquid just for the birds :)

sweet special someone !

Is age what defines who your friend can be?
I say no, as my little friend is just turning three.

Big eyes and curly hair, as pretty as a little bear.
She is sweet, she is cute and at time can be a citrus fruit.
“All done” is her favorite word, which she chirps like a baby bird.
It’s RIGHT when she likes it and WRONG in another split.
‘It’s your turn’ and’ it’s my turn’, follow this order else you will be shunned.
Nick jr is all she requests, smiling like a spring cress.

Innocence & intelligence, describe her best, full of flavor like a lemon zest.

I Care

"I care not what others think of what I do, but I care very much about what I think of what I do! That is character." – Theodore Roosevelt

If you believe that what you are doing is wide of the mark then don’t do it for the reason that everyone else thinks this is how it should be. At the end of the day, when everybody will be over and done, you have to live with it

Holi in Seattle, WA

Holi is a festival of colors celebrated in India. This day is all about colors, colors, colors and more colors. You throw/apply/toss colors/water on anyone you feel like and have fun. People in India go crazy on this day.

Personally, I am not a big fan of holi and here is US, you don’t even feel celebratory during traditional festivals. But this year, a friend asked us if we would join them at Maple Valley temple to attend the celebration, well to be precise to eat charts ie, spicy, tangy, awesome Indian snacks.

To be honest, I didn’t had much hopes, but anyway we went & it turned out to be such a delight. It felt as if I was in India, loud music, people dancing like crazy, DJ speaking in!! I had never-ever thought that I will enjoy seeing people soaked in colors. But I guess you start appreciating stuff when you don’t have it.

Is SPRING in??

Pouring rain, gusty winds, cold breeze and then a warm bright sunshine. Seems like spring is about to setin in this part of the orb & I am loving it :)

Wednesday Riddle

Another one from my inbox.

What is it that something that someone else has to take before you can get it?

I say everthing. As whatever belongs to you today was someone else's yesterday.

Anymore thoughts??

Take it or Leave it

"The best way to escape from a problem is to solve it." -Alan Saporta

There are 2 ways to address a problem 'TAKE IT' or "LEAVE IT'. If you decide to take it you will find the solution and if you decide to leave it, u do, but it doesn't.

Alexander's, last words

Got this as a forwarded email. A good mail worth sharing.

Alexander, the great Greek king. after conquering many kingdoms, was returning home. On the way, he fell ill and it took him to his death bed. With death staring him in his face, Alexander realized how his conquests, his great army, his sharp sword and all his wealth were of no consequence.

He now longed to reach home to see his mother’s face and bid her his last adieu. But, he had to accept the fact that his sinking health would not permit him to reach his distant homeland. So, the mighty conqueror lay prostrate and pale, helplessly waiting to breathe his last. He called his generals and said, “I will depart from this world soon, I have three wishes, please carry them out without fail.” With tears flowing down their cheeks, the generals agreed to abide by their king’s last wishes.

“My first desire is that,” said Alexander, “My physicians alone must carry my coffin.” After a pause, he continued, “Secondly, I desire that when my coffin is being carried to the grave, the path leading to the graveyard be strewn with gold, silver and precious stones which I have collected in my treasury.

“The king felt exhausted after saying this. He took a minute’s rest and continued. “My third and last wish is that both my hands be kept dangling out of my coffin.”The people who had gathered there wondered at the king’s strange wishes. But no one dare bring the question to their lips.

Alexander’s favorite general kissed his hand and pressed them to his heart. “O king, we assure you that your wishes will all be fulfilled. But tell us why do you make such strange wishes?”

At this Alexander took a deep breath and said: “I would like the world to know of the three lessons I have just learnt. I want my physicians to carry my coffin because people should realize that no doctor can really cure any body. They are powerless and cannot save a person from the clutches of death. So let not people take life for granted.

The second wish of strewing gold, silver and other riches on the way to the graveyard is to tell People that not even a fraction of gold will come with me. I spent all my life earning riches but cannot take anything with me. Let people realize that it is a sheer waste of time to chase wealth.

And about my third wish of having my hands dangling out of the coffin, I wish people to know that I came empty handed into this world and empty handed I go out of this world.”

Alexander’s last words: “Bury my body, do not build any monument, keep my hands outside so that the world knows the person who won the world had nothing in his hands when dying“.With these words, the king closed his eyes. Soon he let death conquer him and breathed his last.

Orcas Island, San Juan WA

San Juan Islands, a group of 3 islands, Lopaz Island, Orcas Island & San Juan Islands/Friday Harbor is one of the most beautiful place in Washington.

During the ’09 Christmas weekend we had been to Orcas Island.
Started early in the morning for Anacortes from where we had to take ferry for Orcas. It was a nice early moring drive on the lonely foggy road, untill...... read on
We reached Anacortes, waiting to board ferry & then I realized that hubby had left our bags at home and we had an overnight stay at orcas. I don’t have to tell what happened next.
Anyway at orcas our cottage was upgraded to the one which had an ocean view. Ah!! Bags forgotten.

As it was Christmas everything at Orcas was closed and trust me, it was good as I didn’t get to hop around the stores, hence had plenty of time just to enjoy the beauty of Orcas.

The view from Mount Constitution was breath taking. It offers the panoramic views of San Juan, Vancouver Island, Cascades & Olympic mountain ranges. You can drive or hike to this point. Its worth an effort & must-see, must-see, must-see place to be if you are in/going to Orcas.

Gift (or a Return gift)

Last week was my ‘x’ bday ;) I was all excited as, for the first time; I knew the gift I was gonna get. And to add to the glory, unlike last year, UPS delivered the it just on time. Wow!! What more could I have asked for?
Anyway, the excitement didn’t last long & something which has never happened before to anything we bought online, happened. When we tried to configure it and after few hrs of calls with the customer care guys, we realized that there was a problem with the hardware. Well I am speaking about a Dell XPS laptop. Online store refused to replace it but were ready to refund $$.

But then as, I may say, my ‘gift history’ goes on; I did get a surprise gift at midnight :) [doesn't matter even if it wasn't a laptop]
